Washington: US President Donald Trump said he is under no pressure to reach a deal with Iran and claimed the United States is winning the ongoing conflict “by a lot.” His remarks come as the two-week ceasefire deadline approaches, increasing uncertainty over the next phase of the war.

No Rush for Agreement
Trump said reports suggesting he was being pressured into a deal were false. He stated that negotiations would happen relatively quickly, but only on terms favourable to the United States.

He also claimed that any new agreement with Iran would be stronger than the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Claims of Military Advantage
In a separate statement, Trump said US forces were performing strongly and that Iran had suffered major losses in the conflict. He praised the military’s role and insisted America held a powerful strategic position.

He added that the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would continue until a final agreement is reached.

Attacks on Rivals and Media
Trump accused Democrats of trying to weaken America’s position during wartime and criticised sections of the media for what he called negative reporting. He said political opponents should not undermine military achievements during an international crisis.

Ceasefire Deadline Nears
The current ceasefire is set to expire on Wednesday, April 22. Questions remain over whether it will be extended and whether Iran will participate in a new round of talks expected in Islamabad.

Pakistan has reportedly expressed confidence that fresh negotiations can be arranged, though there has been no official confirmation from Tehran.
