Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court heard the habeas corpus petition filed by Chandramuni Urain, mother of a six-year-old girl missing from Gumla since September 2018. The state government informed the court that the CJM court in Gumla had on June 17 granted permission for a narco test of the main accused, which will be conducted in Gujarat. The CJM court has also issued necessary directions to the police administration regarding the procedure. The next hearing has been fixed for July 9.
HC Summons Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and DGP
During the hearing, the government had filed an intervention application seeking modification of a High Court order dated May 12, 2026. The court questioned the purpose of filing such a petition in the High Court when the government had earlier filed an SLP in the Supreme Court on the same issue and then withdrawn it. The court summoned the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, and DGP at 2:15 pm, all three of whom appeared before the bench. The court sought responses from all three officials and ultimately dismissed the government’s intervention application seeking modification of the order.
