Ranchi: Jharkhand is experiencing a dual weather effect with rainfall and heatwave conditions occurring simultaneously across different parts of the state. The Meteorological Department has said conditions remain favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance to the remaining parts of the state within the next three to four days.

Chaibasa Records Highest Rainfall in 24 Hours

Over the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall was recorded across several districts. Chaibasa received the highest rainfall at 50.3 mm, followed by Karmatand at 48.2 mm, Jamtara at 36.4 mm, Nala at 31.8 mm, Lohardaga at 27.4 mm, Jamshedpur at 24.2 mm, and Ranchi at 15 mm. Daltonganj remained the hottest city in the state with a maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius, while Latehar was the coolest with a minimum of 22.9 degrees Celsius.

Heatwave Warning for Garhwa, Palamu and Chatra on June 25-26

The weather department has issued a heatwave warning for Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra districts on June 25 and 26, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. Alerts for strong winds and lightning have also been issued for other parts of the state. From June 27 to 30, scattered lightning and strong winds are expected across various districts.

Ranchi Forecast for June 25-29

Ranchi and surrounding areas are expected to remain partly cloudy with thundershowers from June 25 to 27, with maximum temperatures hovering around 33 to 34 degrees Celsius. On June 28 and 29, light to moderate rain is likely, which may bring the temperature down to 30 to 31 degrees Celsius. No major temperature changes are expected over the next three days, after which a drop of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is anticipated.

Monsoon Rainfall 58% Below Normal Since June 1

Despite the monsoon’s advance, Jharkhand has received far below normal rainfall this season. From June 1 to 25, the state recorded only 58.4 mm against the normal of 139.9 mm, a deficit of 58 percent. District-wise, Bokaro recorded 67 percent less rainfall, East Singhbhum 65 percent less, Dhanbad 55 percent less, and Ranchi 14 percent less than normal.
