Ujjain: On the second day of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s Satya Sanatan Swabhiman Yatra on Wednesday, he attacked the Modi government over alleged “chanda chori” and “vote chori,” demanding that those guilty of stealing donations be jailed, vote theft be stopped, and elections be held through ballot papers instead of EVMs.
Yatra Resumes with Singh Walking With a Staff
The day’s march began at 10 am from Shri Sai Kunj Colony on Tarana Road. Singh walked with a staff in hand. The yatra started from Ujjain’s Mahakal Dham and will conclude in Ayodhya.
Amrita Rai: Sanatan Dharma Is Our Pride
His wife Amrita Rai, who joined the yatra, said Sanatan Dharma is the ultimate truth and the source of the family’s pride and self-respect. She said Shiva symbolises a philosophy, while Ram represents ideals and rules of conduct. The yatra, she said, aims to align this philosophy with those ideals and ensure there is no deceit or betrayal of the established institutions of society that people trust and hold central to their faith.
P.C. Sharma Likens Present Situation to British Rule
Congress leader P.C. Sharma said that whenever people have faced repression like that under British rule, they have woken up and risen. He said people became aware and united under Mahatma Gandhi and fought for independence, and that today too people across the country face hardship and have risen on their own. He added that this movement is again being led by a Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and that the whole country stands with him. Whether it is vote theft, alleged misuse of political donations, rising inflation or unemployment, he said, these issues are creating conditions like those under British rule.
