Patna: Mokama MLA Anant Singh has said he will surrender by December 1 after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, and has accused JDU leader Neeraj Kumar of hatching a conspiracy behind the move.
Singh Says He Respects the Court
Singh said he would surrender before the court, that he respects it and will accept whatever it decides, and that he expects the court to grant him bail again. He said he had faith in the judiciary before and still does.
Alleges Neeraj Took Matter to Delhi
Singh claimed that when his bail process here was nearly complete, Neeraj took the matter to Delhi, which he learnt of only months later. He said that when he found out, he openly opposed Neeraj during the elections, adding that the party had no role in it and that only Neeraj Kumar was behind everything.
SC Orders Bihar Police to Finish Probe in Four Months
On Friday, October 30, a Supreme Court bench of Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Prasanna B. Varale directed Bihar Police to complete the investigation within four months and fixed the next hearing for after that period. The directions came on a petition by Neeraj Kumar, grandson of Dularchand Yadav, challenging the Patna High Court’s March 19 order granting Singh bail. The petitioner argued that Singh’s criminal history, including involvement in several criminal cases, was not properly considered while granting relief.
Party Action Against Singh
The JDU has expelled Anant Singh and his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, for opposing Neeraj Kumar in the MLC election and anti-party activities. It has also recommended to the Speaker action against his assembly membership under the anti-defection provisions.
