Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal is not going to back down on the issue of caste census. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav raised his voice on this. Now Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s strategy is to heat up the issue during the Monsoon session of the Bihar Legislature starting July 26. It is clear that the opposition is preparing to surround the ruling parties including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on this issue. Tejashwi has made it clear that this issue is related to the present and future of about 65 percent of the country’s population.

RJD decided the outline of the movement

RJD has fought a long battle for the caste census and will continue to fight it. Therefore, the outline of the movement is being decided in RJD regarding this. If needed, efforts will be made to bring all the opposition parties on one platform. Tejashwi argues that this can prove to be a big weapon for the opposition to surround the ruling party.

Because under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a resolution was passed unanimously in favor of the caste census from both the houses of the Bihar Legislature and was sent to the Central Government. The Bharatiya Janata Party also agreed in this. What has happened now that the central government of BJP is backing down from this. Rejecting Bihar’s proposal.

No extra cost in caste census

Tejashwi has said that animals are also counted in the census. Dog-cat, elephant-horse, lion-jackal, cycle-scooter all count. Even people of different religions are counted. But what problem can the government have in telling the number of deprived, neglected and backward groups of that religion. Only one column will have to be added in the census form. There should be no extra cost.

Tejashwi walking on Lalu Prasad’s line

Caste census has been an old demand of RJD. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad has been raising his voice from time to time regarding this. In a tweet of December 2019, Lalu Prasad had said that lakhs of crores will be spent on the alleged NPR and NRC and 2021 census. Many different columns are being added to the NPR. In such a situation, what is the problem in adding one more column of the caste census? Now Tejashwi is also seen following the same line and raising the issue of caste census.
