Dissatisfied students create ruckus in Tata Steel Trade Apprentice Exam

Jamshedpur, Sept. 21: Alleging corruption in the Tata Steel Trade Apprentice Exam, disgruntled candidates halted the candidates who had come for the interview at SNTI on Tuesday. Initially, they demanded that the exam results, including the grades, be made public. Examinees who are dissatisfied state that not only did their exam go better, but that their grades should have been in the 80s or 90s. However, due to the non-declaration of marks based results, there is a question on its  transparency.

Candidates have raised concerns about the online trade apprentice exam’s questions. The examinees claim that the two-hour examination took place between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. However, the question paper was repeated every hour and went viral on social media, benefiting those who showed up for the exam after 12 p.m.

Before 10 a.m., hundreds of such applicants and their parents had gathered at the SNTI Gate for a demonstration. At the same time, the successful candidates’ interview was set to begin at 10 a.m. The protesting applicants barred the candidates from leaving when they came for the interview at 10 a.m. The situation deteriorated after that. There were a lot of push-ups in the meantime. Some of the candidates were able to gain access to the interview room. Because of the commotion, several people were forced to stay outside. Candidates who had travelled from outside the city with their parents were walking aimlessly, unsure of what to do.

Students who attempted the Trade Apprentice exam were separated into two groups. One who arrived for the interview after being chosen, and the other who were not selected. The youngsters who came for the interview were concerned that if they were denied, they would be cut off, and the protesters were concerned that once the session was completed, no one would listen to them again. Those people were attempting to stop the interview in any instance in such a setting.

No one from Tata Steel’s management came out to speak with the candidates who were protesting. However, security officers from the corporation were present. They attempted to persuade the protesters several times, but to no avail. The Bistupur police squad arrived at the scene after hearing
