New Delhi, Oct.16: The alleged killing of a man near the Singhu border was “unfortunate,” according to Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) chairman Rakesh Tikait, but it will not deter farmers from protesting the Centre’s three farm laws.

“Whatever happened is wrong and unfortunate. Someone killed him and later the police arrested the killer. The matter is subject to investigation. It will not affect our protest,” said Tikait.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hansraj, a man’s body was discovered hanging on a police barricade near the Singhu border on Friday, with his hands and legs chopped off.

“An FIR has been filed in this case,” the DSP added.

The man has been identified as Lakhbir Singh, a resident of Cheema Khurd village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran area. The deceased, who was about 35-36 years old and used to work as a labourer, told the authorities that he had no criminal record and was not affiliated with any political party.
