J&K: Terrorist attack on CRPF convoy in Shopian, 1 civilian killed in cross firing

Shopian, Oct 24: On Sunday, terrorists attacked a Naka Party of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team in Babapora area of Shopian district. One civilian was killed during cross firing between terrorists and security forces. According to the report, the civilian killed has been identified as Shahid Ahmad, a resident of Kharpora Naupora Arwani Bijbihara. Security forces have cordoned off the area and a search operation is underway.

According to a statement issued by Jammu and Kashmir’s Police, the encounter broke out at around 10:30 am.

“Around 10:30 am, unidentified terrorists attacked a CRPF personnel at Babapora, Shopian. CRPF troops retaliated the fire and during cross firing, one civilian was killed”, said the statement.

Further details are awaited.

Notably, on Sunday morning also two policeman and an army jawan sustained injuries after terrorists opened fire in the Bhata Durian area of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.
