Barhet, Oct.25: Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on a two-day visit to his assembly constituency Barhet, came down heavily on the previous Raghubar Das government while addressing a public gathering at Hesagutta ground on the first day.
“All welfare schemes launched by me during my previous tenure as the CM for downtrodden people were wrapped up by the BJP during the five years of its governance which are again being introduced by our government,” he said.
Hemant also cited the burden of vast responsibility he has been dealing with in terms of looking after the governance of the entire state being the chief minister.
“I beg pardon for being considerably late to turn up before you all that is caused by the vast responsibility you people have entrusted upon me by felicitating to become the chief minister. This coupled with the menace of corona pandemic, making it more difficult for me to visit you electorates’,” Soren explained in local Santhali dialect and highlighted the efforts of his government as to how local migrant labourers who were stranded at faraway places were brought by airplanes and other means.
He further said that with the sharp decline in Corona cases in the state, his government is focusing on development works besides introducing new welfare schemes for the downtrodden while referring to the ‘Dhoti Saari Scheme’ that has been recently reintroduced by his government.
“Under the scheme, people belonging to the BPL category can buy Dhoti, Saree, and Lungi by paying just Rs 10,” he said.
He also distributed assets to the beneficiaries of different welfare schemes apart from inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of a series of development works undertaken by different government departments.
The CM also directed the local administration to highlight those schemes among the masses, particularly in rural areas, so that they could avail them all.
He also attended similar programs at Rajabhitta in Boarijore block of the neighbouring Godda district and Patna in Sahebganj.
