BJP leader attacked in Jamshedpur on way to house of Union minister Arjun Munda

Jamshedpur, Nov 2: BJP leader Ramsingh Munda was seriously injured as two bike-borne men attacked him with an iron rod at Supudera under Parsudih thana area on Tuesday morning.

 

Ramsingh (55) who is media In-charge of the state’s ST/SC Committee has sustained multiple injuries in his left hand.

 

The victim was first taken to Khashmahal-based Sadar hospital and later shifted to MGM medical college hospital for better treatment.

 

The BJP leader was attacked at about 8 am while he was riding his bike to senior party leader and Union minister’s house at Ghorabandha in Govindpur, about three kms away from Supudera.

 

As a result of the attack, Ramsingh Munda’s left hand has been broken at two points, besides the internal injuries in the shoulder. Doctors at the Sadar hospital had done X-ray of the left hand and found it broken completely at two places.

 

OC, Parsudih thana Vimal Kindo said two persons who had covered their face with masks and helmets had attacked Ramsingh near the Rajkiya Madhya Vidhyalay in Supudera, just 500 metres away from the victim’s house.

 

“We are trying to detect the attackers by taking out CCTV footage of the locality, but as of now we have not been able to establish their identity, ” said Kindo.

 

The OC said Ramsingh was attacked while was going to Bawangora for buying vegetables, something the victim used to do every morning, claiming that they would detect the attackers.

 

Ramsingh who is able to speak now said he was going to the house of the Union minister after coming to know that the latter has come to his house last night.

 

“Mundajee organises Kali Puja at his house every year and has come home in the night. I had also informed two of my party colleagues to reach at Mundajee’s house. But as I was crossing a turning near the government school, two persons waved me to stop. Considering that they must be in some kind of need I stopped there. But suddenly one of them started attacking me with an iron rod, ” narrated Ramsingh.

 

He said he said first the man holding the rod had tried to hit his head, but he managed to duck and subsequently the attacker had repeatedly hit at his left hand and shoulder.

 

The BJP leader pointed out sensing life risk he soon after he dropped his bike and fled towards his house. He said the attackers had also fled towards the opposite direction.

 

Ramsingh said he has no enmity with anyone, adding that it must be a political attack.
