Ranchi, Nov.15: Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda on the occasion of Jharkhand Foundation Day and Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas today devoted a full day in the state.
The declaration of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary as Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas by the Centre is said to be Arjun Munda’s brainchild.
Before he took off in the evening at 8.10 pm for New Delhi he remained present during the inauguration of the newly constructed Birsa Munda Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum in the old campus of Birsa Munda Jail in the heart of Jharkhand capital by Prime Minister Narendra Modi online from Bhopal.
Participating in the programme he reached Birsa Ora, the birthplace of tribal icon Birsa Munda in Khunti and offered prayer in a traditional manner.
It was a proud moment for Munda visiting Khunti, the parliamentary constituency which he represents in Lok Sabha. The reason behind the moment being proud for him as Prime Minister Modi this year was to give Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas status to the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, a tribal icon associated with his constituency.
BJP workers were elated during his presence and they had organised ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ in each Panchayat and expressed their happiness over the decision taken by the union cabinet.
“By declaring Birsa’s birth anniversary Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas Modi Ji has honoured 3.25 crore people of the state. It is an honour of Jharkhand’s water, forest and land,” said BJP state president Deepak Prakash. BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi echoed Prakash saying ‘giving Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas status to Birsa Jayanti is an honour to all tribal leaders of the country.”
BJP’s state organising secretary Dharampal Singh said: “Atal Bihari Vajpayee had carved out Jharkhand from Bihar to convert the Ulgulan of Birsa Munda into reality. The Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making all efforts to take Birsa Munda to each and every person.”
At Birsa Chowk, two union ministers including Annapurna Devi and Kishan Reddy, accompanied by a section of BJP leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Sameer Oraon garlanded the statue of Birsa Munda.
