Dhanbad Nov 17: Jharkhand’s Governor Ramesh Bais has called upon scientists and engineers to focus on the research works as per the requirement of the country.
While addressing scientists and engineers at the platinum jubilee celebration of Central Institution Mineral Fuel Research (CIMFR) Dhanbad as chief guest, the Governor said that in 75 years the institution (CIMFR) has done discovery in many areas but now it is time to focus research in the particular field in which country has to import for catering to the requirement.
The Governor observed that despite the huge stock of raw materials such as coal and potash, the country has to import them for catering to the requirements. So, there is demand for time to discover new technology in these areas to make the country self-dependent.” This would not only give CIMFR scientists recognition in the country albeit famous across the globe also,” he said.
CSIR chairman ES Dwarikadas, NITI Aayog member VK Saswat, DSIR and CSIR DG Dr Shekhar C Mande, CIMFR director PK Singh and Dhanbad MP PN Singh also addressed the platinum jubilee celebration function held at the CIMFR auditorium.
The Governor, in his first visit to Dhanbad, highly appreciated the discovery of CIMFR scientists and said that our scientists have done many notable research works and are far away from their counterparts in research work in the world but have not got the recognition which they deserve.
“So do research and get a patent of that developed technique duly,” he said.
Ramesh Bais in his short address rued that since scientists do not get honour and importance in the country resulting they shift abroad. Once upon a time, people from foreign countries used to come to Nalanda University. Now our children go abroad for education.
He further said till the country’s spirit is filled in the mind of people, development ‘rath’ would not move ahead.
On the occasion, Bais also did an online inauguration of a Chennai-based pilot plant for potash extraction from spent ash jointly prepared in collaboration with CIMFR and private industry.
