Ranchi, Nov 18: In the wake of the 24-hour bandh called by the CPI (Maoist) on November 20, the Railway Protection Force unit in Ranchi has alerted its dog squad for the security of the Ranchi-Muri section of Indian Railways.

The three dogs Sunny, Candy and Sandy are of labrador breed and have been readied with their handlers. The dogs will be used for the detection of explosives in the luggage, parcels, boogies and railway tracks.

Out of the three dogs, two including Sunny and Candy are trained at Breeding Cum Training Centre, Delhi, while Sunny has been trained by the BSF.

The gang man deputed at the railway tracks has been directed to alert RPF post in case they find something suspicious.

Divisional Security Commissioner Prashant Yadav said that their whole team will be keeping an eye over every movement of the passengers.

“We have patrolling vehicles through which we will be keeping a look over the railway tracks and sniffers will be used to scan the luggage of the passengers, parcels and boogies,” Yadav said.

“We have also demanded inputs from IB and thorough check-up will be done of every train which is getting dispatched from the train depot,” Yadav further said.

RPF Inspector S K Jha said that personnel will be deputed on every roadside station to keep an eye over any suspicious movements.

“Luggage of the passengers will be scanned at the gate by the HMD scanner and personnel will be deployed around the station,” Jha said.

The CPI (Maoist) has called for a Bharat Bandh on November 20 and announced to observe ‘Pratirodh Divas’ from November 15 to November 19 in protest against the arrest of the outlawed organisation’s politburo member Prashant Bose alias Kishan Da and his wife Sheela Marandi.
