New Delhi, Nov.19: A statement released by Adani Group on Friday revealed that a joint team of Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated eight containers from a foreign vessel at Mundra Port on Thursday, November 18, amid suspicions that they contained undeclared dangerous commodities, including potentially radioactive material.

The consignment was intercepted at the Mundra port in Gujarat’s Kutch area on its way from Karachi, Pakistan, to Shanghai, China.

Because the port is administered by the Adani company, the latter made a media statement on the subject via its official Twitter account on Friday.

The company further stated that the cargo was listed as ‘non-hazardous’, but the seized containers had Hazard Class 7 markings (which indicate radioactive substances).

Despite the fact that the containers were en route from Karachi, Pakistan, to Shanghai, China, government officials had them offloaded at Mundra Port for extra inspection.

The company praised Customs and DRI staff for their diligence and attentiveness, and stated that APSEZ had provided all possible support and assistance for this operation.

In conclusion, the company wrote that APSEZ would continue to support any action that keeps India secure. The Adani Group is committed to national security and will not allow it to be jeopardised in any way”, read the statement.
