JEPC to provide IT education to students in remote places of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Dec 3: Taking a huge leap in the field of IT education, the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has planned to set up computer labs/ICT labs in 1,854 selected elementary and secondary & senior secondary schools of Jharkhand.

The computer assisted learning model will use a network of a minimum of 10 computers in each school under the centrally sponsored ICT Schools program. The genesis behind the project is to provide IT infrastructure at the remotest corner of the state schools to fulfill the dream of poor students to use modern age technology in learning.

The JEPC has released a tender for the selection of agency for the establishment of ICT Labs which includes supply, maintenance and installation of software, hardware and related accessories for providing computer education services.

The selected agency will be responsible for the establishment, maintenance, required manpower and other computer education services for 5 years from the date of award of contract.

The schools to be covered under the scheme are divided into two zones. The first zone consists of 439 elementary schools and 485 secondary/ sr. secondary schools. In the second zone, 434 elementary schools and 496 secondary/ sr. secondary schools will be covered.

The objective of the ICT Scheme includes promotion of usage of ICT in rural areas, availability of quality content online, enrichment of ICT tools for teaching and learning, enabling students to acquire skills for higher studies, effective learning environment for children with special needs and promotion of usage of ICT tools in distance learning.
