Jamshedpur, Dec 22: Steel city residents can look forward to hassle-free travel within the city and around.

A new road connecting Sakchi with Bistupur and Kadma was opened for traffic movement. Moreover, construction work of the long-awaited 2.5 Km Ghorabandha Road in Telco also began in right earnest.

The road construction work under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana began earlier this week.  The road project will cost over Rs 2 crore.

The Ghorabandha Road assumes significance as it connects the residence of three-time chief minister Arjun Munda, who is currently the Union tribal affairs minister.

The poor condition of the Ghorabandha Road led to the woes of numerous residents staying in flats, apartments and other high-rises in Ghorabandha locality on the outskirts of Telco.

The road connecting Sakchi with Bistupur and Kadma christened New Arun Road, is a one-way thoroughfare, 8-metre wide with 1.5-metre pathway for pedestrians.

The road is 360-metre long and is illuminated with street lights besides road markings and traffic signages. Tree plantation on both sides of the road is being done to make the area greener.
