IGNOU extends date for online enrollment till Jan 31, introduces courses for BCA, MCA

Ranchi, Jan 6: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the admission process for the January session. The admission process is open for programmes offered through open and distance mode (ODL) and programmes offered via the online mode.

The candidates can apply till January 31 on the official website- ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. For admission to online programmes, learners can visit ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.

IGNOU offers over 200 ODL programmes and 16 online programmes. A list of programmes and other information is available on the websites. For ODL programmes, SC, ST students can avail the fee exemption facility. However, the facility is for only one programme per admission cycle.

IGNOU coordinator at Gossner College Prof. Santosh Kumar said that the nomination process started from 24 December and the last date is 31 January. He said that interested students can enrol in IGNOU Study Center for Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programmes in Disaster Management (PGDDM), Rural Development (PGDRD), Translation Studies (PGDT), and International Business Operations (PGDIBO). Enrollment can be done in Environment and Sustainable Development (PGDESD), Higher Education (PGDHE), Gandhi and Peace Studies (PGDGPS), Sustainable Science (PGDSS) and Environment and Occupational Health (PGDEOH) courses. The duration of all the courses is one year. Under Diploma courses, one can enrol in Tourism Studies (DTS), Early Childhood Care and Education (DECE), Nutrition and Health Education (DNHE) and Family Education with HIV (DAFE) courses.

Kumar further added, ‘Certificate courses under Food and Nutrition (CFN), Guidance (CIG), Tourism Studies (CTS), HIV and Family Education (CAFE), Environmental Studies (CES), Laboratory Techniques (CPLT), Gandhi and Peace Studies (PGCGPS) , Nutrition and Child Care (CNCC), Primary School Mathematics Teaching (CTPM), Disaster Management (CDM) and Rural Development (CRD) courses. The minimum duration of this course is six months. The courses can also be done by the students along with other undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The university has also provided the candidates seeking admission to the ODL, online programmes with service centre helpline email id and contact numbers. These include – Student Service Centre: ssc@ignou.ac.in, 011-29572513, and 29572514.

Meanwhile, IGNOU’s School of Computer and Information Sciences has launched BCA and MCA programmes in online mode. Interested candidates will have to register at ignouiop.samarth.edu.in. The last date to apply for the programmes is January 31, 2022.

These programmes have been designed with a semester approach in mind wherein the first year will focus on theoretical knowledge and practical skills development in core computer science subjects. The second-year is more focused on advanced courses providing conceptual framework and project work.
