Dhanbad, Jan 8: Sharing of teachers’ quota has once again emerged as a bone of contention between Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh and Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad.
BBMKU authority has shot off a letter to the VBU authority demanding a share of its university’s teachers appointed by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) in name of BBMKU colleges on the basis of the backlog list.
The backlog list of teachers was made in 2018 when BBMKU had not come into existence and its colleges were part of VBU. The JPSC has recently appointed assistant professors in five universities (barring BBMKU) on the basis of the 2015- 16 backlog. So, BBMKU is demanding its share of teachers who have been appointed in the name of its colleges.
BBMKU Registrar in-charge Prof DK Singh admitted to have sent the letter to his counterpart of VBU Hazaribagh on Friday asking for the teachers who have been appointed by the JPSC for the colleges of Dhanbad and Bokaro.
“There is no dispute between the two universities. I have written a letter to VBU authority to release the teachers appointed in the name of colleges of BBMKU,” said the registrar in-charge of BBMKU.
An authority of VBU Hazaribagh when contacted today said that the university has not received any letter from BBMKU regarding sharing of teachers. If such a letter comes, the proper action would be taken in view of it.
This is the second time within a year that BBMKU has demanded its teachers from VBU. Over half a dozen senior teachers of different colleges of BBMKU are deployed at Hazaribagh University on deputation.
Since colleges of BBMKU are reeling under acute shortage of faculty members since January 2021, the then registrar of BBMKU had shot off a letter for releasing them (teachers on deputation).
There were 19 constituent colleges under VBU. But BBMKU became a separate university with 10 colleges of Dhanbad and Bokaro in 2017.
University officials said that almost all constituent colleges of BBMKU are facing an acute shortage of teachers in all faculties. So, it has demanded a share of its teachers to cater for the requirement.
