Jamshedpur, Jan 14: Body of a middle-aged man was found lying in the bush of Khairbani under Govindpur thana area, about 15 kms away from the heart of the city on Friday.
The deceased who appeared from a descent family is suspected to be a murder victim.
The body bore a mark of grievous injury in the left earlobe, suggesting that he might have died of being attacked with some lethal weapon.
A little distance away from the spot where the body was found were lying a couple of empty liquor bottles.
The body was seen by a local resident at about 11 a.m. today, causing the news to spread like a wild fire in Khairbani. As the body was unidentified, no one could say anything about the deceased.
Within an hour the information about the body reached the Govindpur thana leading the police to rush to the spot.
“It is too early to say whether it is a murder case or accidental death case. But keeping the circumstances and a mark of grievous injury in view, we suspect it to be a case of murder,” said Dharmendra Agarwal, officer-in-charge.
Agarwal said that they would be in a better position to tell anything about the matter if the body could be identified.
“While we carried out the necessary procedure concerning the body, we also initiated steps for getting the body identified. It has already been shifted to the MGM medical college mortuary for the post-mortem, ” said the OC.
Agarwal pointed out they would reach to the conclusion about the cause of death after getting the autopsy report only, adding that they have started the investigation.
