Daltonganj, Jan 19: Lift service in Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH), Daltonganj can be operational in two weeks from now, provided the medical superintendent of the MMCH and the civil surgeon Palamu jointly make effort for a high-powered transformer there.

Only yesterday (Tuesday, January 18), Lagatar English had posted a report on how a dialysis patient is forced to climb stairs in lack of an operable lift to reach the dialysis centre on the third floor of the MMCH building.

A dialysis patient exhausts and gasps negotiating the staircases. The harrowing experience of a patient climbing up and down from the staircases cannot be imagined.

An operational lift will mean a dialysis patient reaching the third-floor based dialysis unit can avail of trolley or chair at least.

On Tuesday, civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar had inspected the dialysis unit in MMCH Daltonganj and was saddened to find the lift not functioning.

He called in the ground staff of the lift agency and prevailed upon them to get the lift operational in a week only.

Additional chief secretary (health) Arun Kumar Singh taking immediate cognisance of the plight of the dialysis patients here in the MMCH Daltonganj published in Lagatar English, spoke to DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan and directed him to ensure the operation of the lift at the earliest.

DC Shashi Ranjan then asked the civil surgeon to get the lift operational.

Dr Anil Kumar told Lagatar English today when DC inquired about the status of the lift, he apprised him of cable work going on there for it.

The civil surgeon further said he is in close touch with the agency entrusted to make the lift functional and its site officials have assured that once the cabling work is over they will go for the control room.

Lagatar English also spoke to one of the functionaries of the agency entrusted with the task of making lift operational Vikas said the lift does not operate for the simple reason of power tripping.

This man further said it is dangerous to operate a lift if the power tripping continues. It would take him 10 to 15 days more to make this lift operational.

This lift at MMCH was inaugurated in the year 2020 but after a few days of service, it became a piece of object.
