Panaji, Jan 20: Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of the Aam Admi Party and Delhi Chief Minister, welcomed former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal to join the party on Thursday, January 20.

“Goans feel very sad that the BJP has adopted a use-and-throw policy even with the Parrikar family. I have always respected Manohar Parrikar ji. Utpal ji is welcome to join and fight elections on an AAP ticket,” he tweeted.

Utpal Parrikar was left off the BJP’s list of candidates for the Goa elections, prompting his tweet. The BJP, on the other hand, is still attempting to persuade Utpal Parrikar to run on the party’s ticket, according to sources. Attempts to contact his relatives have been made.

Party officials, on the other hand, have ruled out Parrikar running for the Bicholim seat since they are still attempting to persuade party leader and Assembly Speaker Rajesh Patnekar to run. Patnekar is sceptical because his health is failing him.

Utpal has already begun holding door-to-door meetings in the Panjim constituency, which his father previously represented.

Following the death of Manohar Parrikar in 2019, the BJP ran a young candidate, Siddharth Kuncalleinkar, for the seat. Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monseratte, a Goa strongman and former Congress leader, ran and won the by-elections, seizing the seat from the BJP.
