Kolkata, Jan 23: Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, urged central government to declare Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s birthday a national holiday on Sunday. The repeated requested comes just days after the central government opted to begin Republic Day festivities on January 23 in order to commemorate Bose’s birthday, which the Centre has designated as ‘Parakram Diwas’ (day of valour).
“We again appeal to the Central Government that Netaji’s birthday be declared a National Holiday to allow the entire Nation to pay homage to the National Leader and celebrate #DeshNayakDibas in most befitting manner,” Mamta said in a tweet.
