Ranchi, Feb 7: With schools in the state now open, the management is under pressure to conduct exams for classes 9 and 11, to maintain the schedule for future exams. However, several schools in the state are not yet ready; neither have they had any plans yet.

CBSE schools like DAV and Surendranath Centenary School are yet to make a decision regarding this. Principal Sanjay Kumar Mishra of SR DAV Pundag, over a telephonic conversation, said, ‘All DAV schools have a centralized calendar for exams. Notices for exams are still awaited.’

He further added, ‘However, we expect the exams to be conducted in the first week of March, although no specific dates have been issued yet as this decision will also include parents’ consent.’

Principal Shamita Sinha said, ‘We are planning to take exams soon, however whether the exams will be online or offline or exactly when they will be conducted is still an issue of debate.’

When asked if CBSE has a say in the conduction of exams in schools, Sinha rejected the idea.

JVM Shyamali school principal Samarjit Jana when contacted said, ‘We are yet to make any decisions about both date and mode of exams.’

Other CBSE schools in the city including Firayalal Public School could not be contacted about the matter.

ICSE schools, on the other hand, have contradicting positions about exams.

Officials of St Xavier’s School said all exams will commence from February 21, wherein classes 8-11 will have offline exams and all classes below 8 will be taking exams online.

Meanwhile, Sapphire International school manager Alka said, ‘It has not been decided when the exams will begin and whether they will be organized online or offline. The management is yet to make any decisions regarding this.

Other ICSE schools including Loreto Convent, Bishop Westcott Girls’ and Boys’ Schools could not be contacted.
