Dhanbad, Feb 15: Deoghar cyber police claimed to have busted a syndicate of fraudsters by arresting its eight members from different police station areas of the district in a 24-hour operation.

Deoghar cyber police station Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sumit Prasad told media persons today that special teams of the cyber police conducted raids simultaneously in different places of the district and nabbed eight members of the syndicate.

“The special teams also recovered 11 mobile phones and 21 SIM cards from the possession of arrested criminals who duped several bank account holders in Jharkhand and other states in the name of updating their KYC, Aadhar card, taking bank account by impersonating as a bank officer,” said the DSP.

The official said that after getting a tip-off about the syndicate operating in the district, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Dhananjay Kumar Singh constituted four teams for conducting raids simultaneously in different locations under Mohanpur police station, Sonaray Thari police station, Devipur police station and Budhai police station.

The arrested criminals are being interrogated about other members of their syndicate residing in Deoghar or other districts in the state and the number of crimes they have committed so far.

“Police are also searching their criminal records to find out whether they were involved in other offenses or not,” said the officer to media persons.

He further said that more arrests are on cards as some other members of the syndicate managed to escape from their houses after getting information about the police action.
