RANCHI, Feb 15: The petition filed against the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) seeking answers whether any reservation was granted to the candidates appearing for the JPSC (Preliminary) Examinations held last year was withdrawn on Tuesday after all grievances of the petitioner were answered by the JPSC.

Notably, the petitioner had pleaded that reservation was granted to students in the preliminary exams, despite the fact that it was not mentioned in the advertisement.

During the hearing on the petition challenging the preliminary results, JPSC had on January 25 submitted that a decision had been taken to postpone the exam and declare fresh and rectified results three weeks after reviewing the grievances of the petitioner.

Meanwhile, on Feb 12, the JPSC lawyer Amit Das filed an Interlocutory Application (IA) in Jharkhand High Court, seeking permission to publish revised results of the Civil Services (PT) Examination conducted earlier.

According to the IA filed by the JPSC on Friday last, the result has been prepared and has to be published so that sufficient time is given to the selected candidates to apply and prepare for the main examination. A new merit list of 4,883 candidates has been prepared, it said.

Lawyer of the petitioner Kumar Sanyam and others, Advocate Amritansh Vats on Tuesday said, “In light of the new rectified results, the petitioner decided to withdraw the writ petition as all their grievances have been answered by the JPSC.”

“As per the application by JPSC’s draft of proposed results for court, a total of 1044 candidates are now eligible for appearing in the mains exams, however, 407 candidates will be removed from the old results. Now, 782 candidates of the unreserved category, 154 candidates of BC I, and 108 candidates of BC II will be added to the new list. Along with this, 145 candidates of ST category, 111 of SC category and 151 of EWS category will be removed from the old list after revision,” Vats further added.

Notably, the JPSC had landed in a controversy after it disqualified 49 candidates who were earlier declared to have ‘provisionally’ cleared the 7th-10th Civil Services PT Examination, after which it had postponed the Civil Services (Main) Examination till further orders.
