New Delhi, Feb 16: Talks are continuing with civil aviation authorities and several airlines to boost the frequency of flights between India and Ukraine, amid ongoing border tensions between Russia and Ukraine, said the sources.

According to sources, control rooms are being set up in the embassy and the Ministry of External Affairs to respond to the queries from Indian nationals in Ukraine and their families in India.

Notably, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine had already requested that its citizens, particularly students whose stay was not required, leave Kyiv temporarily.

India has recommended that its nationals keep the Embassy updated of their position so that the Embassy can contact them if necessary, according to an advisory issued on Tuesday.

In recent months, tensions over Ukraine have risen, with Russia and NATO accusing each other of amassing troops on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

Russia is accused of plotting an invasion by the United States and Ukraine. Moscow, on the other hand, continues to refute such assertions, claiming that it has no plans to attack any country.

A representative for the White House previously stated that the US would welcome any country’s efforts to help de-escalate the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, including India.
