Ranchi, March 1: Associate Director (Research) of Chianki, Palamu-based Zonal Research Station of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU),Dr DN Singh, has been nominated as a member of Board of Management of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), Samastipur, Bihar.
His nomination has been made in the category of eminent scientist by President of India Ram Nath Kovind in the capacity of Visitor, RPCAU. His term as a member will be of three years.
Singh had earlier served BAU as Director Research, Director Administration and Associate Dean, College of Biotechnology also. He has to his credit over 300 research papers published in national and international journals of repute.
He has handled 27 research projects as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator. Out of these, 12 projects were funded by international agencies. With his scientific contribution as a plant breeder, 17 improved varieties of rice and other crops were released.
As a teacher, he has also guided 6 M Sc and 2 Ph D students. After obtaining Master’s and Ph D degree from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, Dr Singh started his career as a Junior Scientist cum Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Breeding & Genetics of BAU in 1990. He was directly recruited as Chief Scientist (Dryland Agriculture Project) in the year 2005.
