Ranchi, Mar 4: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who is popularly known as KCR, met Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at the latter’s official residence today.
Both the chief ministers also handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the martyr in Galwan Valley.
On this occasion, Rao said that Colonel Santosh Babu of Telangana was also martyred in Galvan Valley. At that time, the state government had decided that the Telangana government would provide financial assistance to the families of all the soldiers who were martyred along with Santosh Babu. In the same context, today ex-gratia amount has been given to the families of the brave martyrs of Jharkhand.
Later, both the chief ministers organized a joint press conference where Rao said, “When we started the movement for separate Telangana state, at that time we received the support of Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren. They remained with us till the formation of the state. His blessings have also been received by coming here.”
Briefing the press, CM Rao said, “We held discussions on several issues. We are clear that efforts should be made to take India in a new direction. People are talking about a third front; a fourth front…let me tell you that no front has been formed yet.”

Earlier, Rao met his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar separately in Mumbai on February 20. Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and the NCP have said they will not join an Opposition front without Congress, which is a part of their government in Maharashtra. The Congress is also a part of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led government in Jharkhand.
A day after his meetings in Mumbai, KCR vowed to fight against “the divisive, communal forces” and play a role in national politics to bring about a qualitative change in the country’s governance.
The Congress has accused KCR of helping the BJP grow into a more powerful force by focussing on parties supporting the country’s main opposition party.
KCR on Thursday met BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy and farmer leader Rakesh Singh Tikait in New Delhi.
Minister Shri V Srinivas Gaur, MLC Smt. Kavita Rao, Telangana Planning Board Chairman Shri Vinod Kumar, State Chief Secretary Shri Sukhdev Singh, Telangana Chief Secretary Shri Somesh Kumar, State Director General of Police Shri Neeraj Sinha, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shri Rajiv Arun Ekka, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Vinay Kumar Choubey and others were present during the press conference.
