RANCHI, March 9: The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday stated that the revised results declared by the JPSC on February 17 were correct and the JPSC Mains exams will be conducted on March 11.
A petition was earlier filed against the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) demanding a stay on the JPSC Mains exams that is to be conducted on March 11. As per the senior advocate Ajit Kumar, the revised results declared by the JPSC were considered incorrect.
Notably, after the first results of the preliminary exams were declared, a petitioner had pleaded that reservation was granted to students in the preliminary exams, despite the fact that it was not mentioned in the advertisement.
JPSC lawyer Amit Das had then filed an Interlocutory Application (IA) in Jharkhand High Court, seeking permission to publish revised results of the Civil Services (PT) Examination conducted earlier. Notably, after the intervention of the High Court, the revised result was released by JPSC in haste. A total of 409 SC, ST and EWS students were excluded from the revised list after being declared successful in the earlier result of JPSC. Dissatisfied with this, the students had gone to the court again against JPSC.
After the permission was granted, the JPSC had released the revised results for the 7th to 10th Jharkhand Combined Civil Services PT Exam that was held on 19 September 2021. As per the results, a total of 4885 candidates had been declared successful. However, senior advocate Ajit Kumar then challenged the results and demanded a stay on the JPSC Mains examinations.
According to advocate Amritansh Vats who appeared on behalf of the interveners who are the successful candidates belonging to the unreserved and BC categories and have been selected as per the revised results, “In earlier results, the benefit of reservation was extended, however, after the decision of the Division Bench, the JPSC had itself modified its first result and published the revised results after removal of benefits of reservation strictly in accordance with the Civil Services Rule 2021, and in terms of the advertisement.”
Vats further continued, “There is no ambiguity in the said revised results. Since the candidates belonging to a few categories who have been outstayed in the said revised results had approached the High Court with their grievances. The interveners are a highly interested party in the case and should be allowed to intervene in the matter.”
“The High Court thus allowed the intervention application filed by one Ashutosh Kumar and others and directed the petitioner to make them party respondent,” Vats added.
