Daltonganj, March 17: Around 1,92,206 children of the age group 12 – 14 born between 15.3.2008 and 15.3.2010 are to be vaccinated with Corbevax in three districts of the Palamu commissionerate comprising Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu.

On the first day of the launching of vaccination of eligible children, Latehar performed far better than Palamu and Garhwa.

“Latehar has a target of 35,040 children to be vaccinated.  On the first day Latehar did 1,916 vaccinations of the eligible children,”  said civil surgeon Dr Haren Chandra Mahto.

“Our community health centre at Barwadih took interest and did not remain content with just doing a miserable 20 vaccination of eligible children on the first day, Latehar district would have easily achieved much higher vaccination than this 1,916,” he added.

Mahto said the community health centre at Barwadih is always a pain in the neck of the district health administration.

The Civil surgeon had a word of appreciation for the education department officials for this performance of vaccination.

Latehar’s two community health centres, Chandwa and Manika, did exceptionally well finishing with 460 and 420 vaccinations on the day of launching, which neither Palamu nor Garhwa could afford to come near to this figure.

Palamu and Garhwa struggled with finishing with the highest 150 and 140 vaccinations respectively.

“Palamu has a target of 93,735 children in the age group of 12 to 14 to be vaccinated. on the launching day, Palamu could finish 474 vaccinations,” said the civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar.

The community health centre at Lesliganj did the highest number of vaccinations of this group finishing with 151 doses in Palamu.

Chainpur came second with 60. The national highway located community health centre Satbarwa could not open its account for this group.

Palamu district epidemiologist Dr Anup kr Singh gave age-wise break up of the target. He said there are 46,750 children between the age group 12- 13.  Similarly, there are 46,985 children in the 13 to 14 slot.

Garhwa district has a target of 63, 471 children in the age group of 12 to 14 who are to be vaccinated, said Garhwa district reproductive child health officer Dr Sandhya Topno today.

“Garhwa district finished with 338 vaccinations of eligible children on the first day of the vaccination. Garhwa health hub did 140 vaccinations of eligible children, the highest number of vaccinations as compared to Dhurki and Ranka where it did not take off at all,” Dr Sandhya said.

Since Dhurki community health centre is a chronic back logger, Dr Sandhya said we try to upscale Dhurki always.
