Maoist area commander Bimal Lohra surrenders in Khunti

Ranchi, March 26: Wanted in as many as 12 cases of crime, including murder, attempt to murder, waging war against state, keeping illegal arms, possession of explosives and blowing schools besides others, Maoist area commander Bimal Lohra having several other names surrendered before Jharkhand Police.

 

A resident of Raitodang under Arki police station area, who joined left wing extremism under the pressure of Maoists like Kundan Pahan, Shram Pahan and Dimba Pahan besides others in 2012 and rose upto the rank of area commander, shared the incident that led him to the path of extremism unwillingly.

 

“Once a technical snag developed in the two-wheeler of police personnel on duty and he was trapped in the forest. I helped him take his vehicle by providing him a plastic rope to prepare a tow chain. As the matter reached Pahan they beat me and my wife. They abducted me and forced me to work for them,” Lohra said, heaving a sigh of relief after his surrender.

 

Explaining how he mustered his courage to defy the order of senior Maoists now after being under their control so far, he, taking care of Chalkad area, said he noticed that Maoists have deviated from their ideology and indulged in exploiting women and the poor. Apart from this, the Maoists do not give importance to tribes in the organization.

 

Under the surrender policy of the state, the surrendered Maoists will be provided everything to ensure that he can lead his life in the mainstream of the city. He will be kept in the open jail.

 

When Lohra surrendered, Deputy Commissioner of Khunti Shashi Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police of the district Ashutosh Shekhar were present along with commandant of 94 battalion of CRPF, Prakash Ranjan Mishra and others present on the occasion.
