Ranchi, March 28: The Jharkhand High Court’s rebuke to tyhe state government and the State Forensic Science Laboratory  (SFSL) last year will yield results soon.

An insider in the laboratory, which helps detect crime and identify smart criminals, said this saying the laboratory will soon get rid of staff and equipment crisis and scale a new height in the field of scientific investigation.

“As many as 39 new scientists have been selected for the institute and examination for selection of as many as 63 new scientific assistants have been completed with the help of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC),” the insider said.

“Apart from scientists and scientific assistants, the FSL has recently completed renovation work involving Rs 2.20 crore. It has also been provided a fund of Rs 32 crore that will be of great help for it to start 25 mobile FSL units, start a lie detection facility, cyber forensic investigation, document investigation, photograph investigation and mobile phone speaker and video authentication identification besides others,” the insider added.

There were 49 vacant posts of scientists. Asked why 10 posts of scientists remained vacant, the insider said: “10 posts of scientists remained vacant as SFSL did not get suitable candidates.”

Another insider supported the fact saying apart from Rs 32 crore the FSL has also got Rs 6.5 crore Nirbhaya Fund from the union government to improve DNA profiling. “Out of Rs 6.5 crore, the SFSL has received Rs 3.37 crore. With its help it will be able to purchase a genetic analyser with 24 capillaries while recently work is done with a genetic analyser with 4 capillaries.   The new equipment will make DNA profiling fast and accurate,” the insider further said.

SFSL director A.K.Bapuly has also written to the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) to declare SFSL a centre of excellence to ensure that the laboratory could get the latest world-class technology for better and faster results.

Last year in August lack of proper infrastructure in the SFLS hogged the limelight after Jharkhand High Court monitoring the CBI probe into Dhanbad Jugde Uttam Anand’s murder case rebuked its authority after it realized that the SFSL in Jharkhand could not analyse urine and blood samples of the accused creating a problem to the investigating agency in getting sample testes on proper time due to lack of equipment.
