Islamabad, April3: The no-confidence resolution against Prime Minister Imran Khan was rejected by the Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly on Sunday, citing violations of the country’s Constitution and norms.

Imran Khan told the public shortly after the no-trust vote against him was overturned that he had written President Arif Alvi a request to dissolve the assemblies, effectively paving the door for early elections in Pakistan.

“I have written to the President to dissolve the assemblies. There should be elections in a democratic way. I call upon the people of Pakistan to prepare for elections,” he said.

Khan, triumphant, reaffirmed his assertion that the vote of no confidence was part of a foreign plot to depose him and damage Pakistan’s democracy.

“Prepare for elections. No corrupt forces will decide what the future of the country will be. When the assemblies will be dissolved, the procedure for the next elections and the caretaker government will begin,” he added.
