Bengaluru, April 15: KS Eshwarappa, Karnataka minister who has been embroiled in a big controversy over charges of corruption and a part in a contractor’s suicide, has announced that he will resign on Friday evening.

“State Minister KS Eshwarappa has decided to resign on his own and will tender his resignation today evening. No need for opposition to become an investigation officer or judge as everything will come out after probe,” said Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai.

Eshwarappa made his announcement yesterday just hours after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai informed him that he would remain in the government.

Meanwhile, Congress is demanding not only Eshwarappa’s resignation, but also his arrest over the corruption case. Notably, the contractor, who died on Tuesday, has accused Eashwarappa, who oversees the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department, of being solely responsible for his death in his last phone calls.

According to sources, the BJP’s top headquarters has told the state that Eshwarappa must go in order to save the party’s anti-corruption image.
