Ramgarh, April 16: The cases of chain snatching in Hazaribagh have increased in recent times and have become a matter of concern for the people. The members of the ‘Jhapattamar gang’ snatched the gold chain from a woman’s neck and fled away at Pandit Ji Road.

Aarti Mukjherjee, the victim, has filed an FIR at Bada Bazaar Police Station, Hazaribagh. The mother of two is a resident of Bank Colony in Pandit Ji Road.

The incident took place around 6:45 PM on Friday when three men on a motorcycle snatched the gold chain from her. She tried to fight back and was injured as she fell on the ground. She informed them that the bike’s number plate was missing and the men were covering their faces with a cloth.

A similar incident took place earlier in the day where two men on a bike snatched a gold chain from the neck of a woman in Kuju, Ramgarh. Uma Devi, a resident of Kuju, went for a walk in the morning when two assailants on a bike snatched the gold chain from her neck and escaped.

She informed the officials at Kuju police station that one of the men, who were riding the bike, was short in height whereas the pillion was tall and covered his face with a green scarf. The value of the chain was Rs. 55,000.
