Ranchi, April 26: Chairman of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Priyank Kanoongo, today landed in Ranchi following information regarding the sexual exploitation of a 7-year-old girl in a shelter home in Kute under the Nagri police station area.

Kanoongo informed this to lagatar24.com saying that he reached out after it came to his knowledge that the shelter home is being run by a famous figure and an attempt is being made to hush up the matter. Kanoongo, however, did not share any details regarding the famous figure.

“Today I am in Ranchi, Jharkhand, here in a children’s home, a case of sexual violence with a child by the staff and then suppressing him has come to light. Children’s homes belong to the same institution belonging to the same influential former bureaucrat, where children are used in picketing, demonstration and chaotic activities,” NCPCR chairman Kanoongo’s tweet read.
