Ranchi, Feb.7: Internet services in three districts of Jharkhand were stopped after reports of group clashes during the movement of the Saraswati idol procession.
The districts included Koderma, Hazaribagh and Giridih. From 4am in the morning the internet services were stopped as a precautionary measure creating problems for local residents in communication.
A Koderma resident informed that a group clash took place at Karbala Nagar under Marckacho police station over playing DJ during the movement of Saraswati idol procession in the evening. In the clash as many as eight including a 13-year-old boy sustained injuries.
A Hazaribagh resident said that in Dulmaha village under Barhi sub division, one died while two sustained injuries when clashes broke out during the progress of an idol procession in the district. The deceased was identified as Rupesh Kumar (28).
A police official said the suspension of internet service has helped a lot and normalcy is returning fast in the trouble area.
“The injured are undergoing treatment while sufficient numbers of force have been deployed in the trouble area. In order to avoid any rumour, internet service has been stopped and it has yielded proper results,” the police official said.
State police spokesperson and I.G (operation) A.V.Homkar supported the police official and said: “Situation is under control. Four persons have been arrested so far. Will update later,” Homkar said.
