Ranchi, Oct.12: Jharkhand High Court advocate Rajiv Kumar, who is embroiled in the cash scandal, has applied for his bail. He has petitioned the High Court for regular bail through his lawyer.

The legal action was taken after the Ranchi ED’s special court dismissed his bail petition on October 1.

On July 31, advocate Kumar, who is famous in the state for filing hundreds of PIL, was arrested in Kolkata. Businessman Amit Agarwal claimed that the advocate initially demanded Rs 10 crore to drop his name from the list of respondents in public interest litigation filed in the matter of shell companies in the Jharkhand High Court, but later agreed to settle for Rs one crore.

Advocate Kumar travelled to Kolkata solely to collect the first installment of 50 lakh rupees. After filing a complaint at the Hair Street police station, Advocate Kumar was arrested. He is currently in judicial custody. Amit Agarwal, a businessman who complained about Rajiv Kumar, is also currently imprisoned in Ranchi in connection with the cash scandal.
