Ranchi, Dec 1: A resident of Giridih Mahendra Pandey (44) was admitted to the Cardiology (CTVS) department of RIMS with a major disease of the heart, in which the main aortic valve was leaking and a major artery of the heart was abnormally enlarged.
The HOD of the CTVS department Dr Vineet Mahajan informed that it is a very serious disease and if left untreated, can lead to major catastrophic disasters.
“He was roaming from one door to another for the treatment without any progress. The patient and the family approached Health Minister for treatment during his visit to RIMS. On investigating the whole episode, HM instructed me to operate on the patient without any delay,” Dr Mahajan added.
The CTVS department took this challenging case and operated on him on November 21 free of cost under the Ayushman scheme. The patient was kept in the CTVS ICU for three days after surgery and he had a speedy recovery.
This operation is known as the Modified Bentall operation and is usually done in higher centres of major cities. Now the patient is fully recovered and is getting discharged today. The patient and the family are extremely thankful to the Health Minister, Jharkhand Government and RIMS for this new gift of life.
