New Delhi, Nov 15: Alex Hales, the star of England’s T20 World Cup team, is scheduled to miss the Indian Premier League in 2023 due to international obligations. Hales and skipper Jos Buttler each produced an unbeaten half-century as England thrashed India by 10 wickets in the semifinal before defeating Pakistan to win the competition.
On the day of the IPL retention deadline, Hales’ team, Kolkata Knight Riders, officially confirmed that he would be missing IPL 2023.
Hales will not play in the upcoming IPL season, joining fellow countryman Sam Billings and the Australian Test and ODI captain. For KKR, who would have anticipated that these three players would be essential team members, this is a significant setback.
Shreyas Iyer’s team will now need to make some wise purchases during the mini auction, which is scheduled to take place in Kochi on December 23.
