Dhanbad, Nov 15: Senior coal-belt Congress leaders today celebrated the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and paid rich tributes to him on the Jharkhand foundation day at the Housing Colony-based district office.
State Congress disciplinary committee chairman cum district president Brajendra Prasad Singh, former minister Mannan Mallick, senior leader Vijay Kumar Singh, AICC member Madan Mahto, state delegate Vaibhav Sinha and Rajeshwar Singh Yadav offered floral tributes to Dharti Aaba.
“Birsa Munda was the messiah of the poor and a great freedom fighter. He played a major role in the freedom struggle and forced the British power to bite the dust for the protection of tribal culture, tradition and forest in the region. He always fought for the exploited class and their welfare. His efforts for social harmony would always encourage the people,” said Brajendra Prasad Singh.
Former minister Mannan Mallick while paying tributes to Birsa Munda said that Dharti Aaba was a natural leader who organized tribal society, poor, exploited people for freedom struggle against the British and launched a massive movement.
Senior Congress leader Vijay Kumar Singh said that Birsa Munda was a great revolutionary in the freedom struggle. For the rights of tribal, poor and exploited people, he launched an agitation and became a source of inspiration among the common people. People of Jharkhand feel proud over the daredevil agitation of Bhagwan Birsa Munda against British rule.
Pappu Kumar Tiwary, Ganga Valmiki, Jaiprakash Chouhan and other leaders also paid floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
