Dhanbad, Dec 25: A youth and his married lover committed suicide on Friday late evening in Maharajganj Lachhudih village under Tundi police station; around 30 km away from district headquarter.
As per police officials, the woman identified as Nasima Bibi (26) was the first to hang herself with rope in her house. The youth, Javed Ansari (19), followed her half an hour later in his house adopting same process.
“Prima facie, the incident looks like an unsuccessful love affair. But the police would jump on any conclusion only after proper probe of both the cases,” said Santosh Kumar, officer in-charge of Tundi police station who reached the village at night and took the body from both the houses into his possession.
Two suicide cases within half an hour rocked the villagers at night. Village sources said that no one knew about any love affair between the two deceased. Even the members of both the families had no knowledge of this affair, though the woman was married.
Tundi police station officer in-charge said that the bodies were sent for postmortem at the Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) in Dhanbad today. On the basis of postmortem reports, police would interrogate both the families. “Police are probing from different angles”, he added.
