Amity University felicitates Jharkhand’s Commonwealth Games Medalist Lawn Bowlers

Ranchi, Aug 25: Vice President of Amity Education Group Gaurav Gupta on Thursday urged Madhu Kant Pathak, Secretary General of Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) to train students once the permanent campus building of the University being developed near the new state assembly is ready.

Pathak said that he would feel privileged to do so, and not only in Amity University Jharkhand, but in all Amity Universities in the nation.

Furthermore, bowlers who recently brought laurels to the state by clinching medals in Commonwealth Games 2022, Birmingham, UK were felicitated along with their coach.

The list included gold medalists Lovely Choubey, Rupa Rani Tirkey and silver medalists Sunil Bahadur and Dinesh Kumar along with their coach Madhu Kant Pathak.

The programme started with a brief description of the players by Dr Kasturi Sahay, Assistant Director, Amity University Jharkhand.

Gaurav Gupta, Vice President, Amity Education Group informed that it was an honor to be part of such an occasion. On behalf of U Ramachandran, Senior Vice President of Amity Education group he said, “One should prepare like a competitor and rest more like an infant.”

He further suggested including lawn bowls in Amity University Jharkhand’s upcoming permanent campus in the state capital. He further added, “Now not only MS Dhoni, but we have many other jewels that make Jharkhand and India proud.”

Prof Dr Raman Kumar Jha, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Jharkhand conveyed his blessings.

Dr A K Srivastava, Senior Director, Amity Education Group expressed gratitude to the players for shining the state’s name at global level. He appreciated the efforts of coach Madhu Kant Pathak.

Dr Nishant Mani, Assistant Director, IQAC, Amity University Jharkhand felicitated Madhu Kant Pathak while Prof. Dr Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand felicitated Lovely Choubey. Meanwhile, Dr SA Pandey, Director, Law, Amity University Jharkhand felicitated Rupa Rani Tirkey.

In an interaction with Gaurav Gupta, the players shared their feelings after bagging the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Furthermore, P Tripathi, Registrar, Amity University Jharkhand felicitated Dinesh Kumar. Sumit Singh, Deputy Director, Amity University Jharkhand felicitated Sunil Bahadur.

Pathak thanked the Amity family for announcing to include lawn bowls green in the permanent campus here and promised to support lawn bowls in any of the Amity campuses.

Sharing their experiences, Dinesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of Amity and assured them of a gold medal in the upcoming 36th National Games scheduled from September end. He said they were warned by the central sports authorities in the camp to bring laurels to the game this time as a huge amount is invested every time at international levels.

Prof Dr Ajit Kumar Pandey said, “It is certainly a motivation for many of us that national heroes are honored in accepting the fact it was a Do or Die situation in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games.”
