Ranchi, April 20: The Amity Law School, Ranchi under the aegis of Amity University Jharkhand in association with Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives (AALI) organised a three-day ‘Youth Workshop on Gender Justice and Equality’ on April 20 in hybrid mode. The event is to conclude on April 22.
Chief guest Manish Kumar Mishra, Under Secretary, JHALSA started an interactive session with students, regarding legal aid. He asked if they had any experience or knowledge about it. He then provided information about Article 39 A, which deals with the provisions of equal justice and free legal aid to the poor and weaker sections of society and ensures justice.
He further talked of legal services, connected Articles with them, section 12 of the Legal Service Authorities Act, 1987 its eligibility and criteria and added about NALSA and JHALSA.
Reshma Singh, State Coordinator for Association for Advocacy and Legal Initiatives (AALI) talked about ‘Power and Patriarchy’. She said that this has been formed and is working in different states, providing technical support to various women rights’ organisations and groups across India. She further pointed out examples of how society has influenced individuals to bring about behavioral changes within them.
Prof (Dr) Ajit Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity University Jharkhand expressed his belief about the marginal section of the society. He said that they are guaranteed justice and have the capability to get the said justice. Even though the marginal section is subjected to various sorts of exploitation, they do not seek justice, he further added.
The workshop ended with felicitation of the chief guest and at the vote of thanks by Ashish Kumar, Assistant Professor who was also the convenor of the Event and Legal Aid Committee. He also discussed about different problems faced by sex workers in society.
