Jammu and Kashmir: A terrorist was shot dead following an attack on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor area on Saturday morning. The incident occurred when terrorists opened fire on an Army vehicle in the Sunderbani Sector near Asan, prompting swift retaliation by security forces. No injuries have been reported among the troops.
The 16 Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the incident in a post on X, stating, “Terrorists fired upon a convoy near Asan, Sunderbani Sector, targeting Army vehicles in the morning. Swift retaliation by our troops foiled the attempt, ensuring no injuries. The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralize the terrorists is ongoing.”
Security forces are conducting a large-scale search operation to locate any remaining attackers. According to preliminary reports, the terrorists fled the spot after opening fire, but efforts are ongoing to secure the area.
In an update provided later, the Army reported that the body of one terrorist along with a weapon had been recovered from the site of the attack. “Body of one terrorist along with weapon has been recovered. Operations are ongoing,” the Indian Army said in its post.
