” Most of the time people think that the pain is due to a fracture in the bone but it can be caused due to nerve damage or a damage in the spinal cord. Moreover, a problem in the brain also causes severe pain at times. Most of the times these problems are not detected on time due to which the treatment also starts late and patient never gets proper treatment. around 80 per cent of the patients that visit the dept complain about pain and majority of them are patients of neuropathic pain,” Dr Kumar said while talking to Lagatar24.com.

He added that through the awareness month in September, they are trying to make patients aware of the exact cause of pain. He told that people from every village and city in the state come to RIMS and they would like to convey this message to the patients of those areas through these patients.

Dr Kumar also informed that after Covid, many patients have become diabetic or are in the pre-diabetic stage.

“The cases of diabetes have been found in many patients who have suffered from Covid-19. Many people have also become pre-diabetic. Due to this, nerve diseases have also increased post Covid. Some of the symptoms of nerve damage are burning sensation in the body, tingling, burning sensation in nerves, pinching sensation. Another reason for this is due to pain in the disc,” the Dr added.
