Chief Minister of Assam and I will submit the report to Union Home Minister in Delhi on Thursday evening (6 pm),” Meghalaya CM said.
“We will submit at least one common report and then I think the Indian Government will have to proceed according to the law,” he added.
He stated that after discussions with the Home Ministry, a conclusion would be reached, and demarcation will be completed following the parliamentary process. According to Sangma, the Survey of India will have to conduct a joint observation and the law will have to be passed.
Sangma stated that the villages in the border areas have been agreed upon by both states, and natural boundaries such as rivers and woods have been recognised. There are 36 communities spread out over 36.79 square kilometres in six separate locations.
Sangma stated that the border dispute has existed for the past 50 years and has been a challenging challenge to resolve, but that both states’ efforts have aided in the process of resolving the issues.
