NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Crime Branch has disclosed how Akashdeep Gill, arrested in the Baba Siddique murder case, used a labourer’s mobile hotspot to communicate with co-conspirators and avoid detection. Siddique, a prominent NCP leader, was killed in Mumbai’s Bandra area, with the crime allegedly orchestrated by Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Gill’s Communication Tactics
Gill admitted to using the hotspot of a labourer named Balwinder to evade tracking, as revealed by the Crime Branch.
“Gill used Balwinder’s mobile hotspot to stay offline, making tracking difficult,” said a Crime Branch official.
Authorities are now searching for Gill’s mobile phone, which could contain crucial evidence.
Arrest and Investigation
Gill was arrested in Punjab and questioned about his role in Siddique’s murder. He is believed to have been acting on instructions from Anmol Bishnoi, who is implicated in several violent incidents, including a firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence earlier this year.
Anmol Bishnoi’s Arrest and Extradition
Anmol Bishnoi was detained in Iowa, USA, by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
•Wanted in India for multiple criminal activities, including Siddique’s murder.
•In April, a lookout circular was issued against him after the Salman Khan incident.
•Linked to terror funding and targeted killings, according to Indian authorities.
Indian agencies are pursuing Anmol’s extradition, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announcing a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.
Extradition Developments
The US State Department has deferred comments on Anmol’s potential deportation, stating it falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.
The Bishnoi brothers have been accused of running a criminal syndicate involving terror funding, recruitment, and planned assassinations across India.
