Dhanbad, Sept 12: The teachers of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) will now have to stay in the institution from 10 am to 4 pm from September 13.

The new regular vice-chancellor (VC) of BBMKU Sukhdeo Bhoil giving this information to media persons said that biometric attendance has also been made mandatory for college teachers from tomorrow and now they would have to stay in the institution for six hours (10 am to 4 pm) continuously.

“The notification has been issued today in this regard and would be effective from tomorrow,” the VC informed while talking to media persons.

However, VC said that teachers of the postgraduate (PG) departments have been exempted from this notification for time being as BBMUK PG departments do not have their own building.

“The head of the department of the concerned subject would decide schedule time frame of teachers and biometric attendance,” he said.

He further added that time schedule and biometric attendance would become mandatory for  PG teachers after streamlining the department under the same roof.

Biometric attendance of teachers in BBMKU  has been suspended for the last two years following the pandemic.

BBMKU Teachers Association office-bearers said that they have not received notification from the vice-chancellor regarding mandatory biometric attendance and stay at college for six hours.

Moreover, BBMKU  Teachers Association spokesperson Dr Jitendra Aryan said that association would make an official comment only after receiving the notification.

“However, there is no need for such notification as teachers stay at their respective institutions more than a fixed hour and used to make biometric attendance when it was introduced. The teachers’ body would extend full cooperation to university administration in the promotion of academic activities,”  he said.
